Better Services from Telco Networks Expected with Mobile Number Portability in the Philippines

Globe, Smart and Dito Mobile users can finally have the option to keep their mobile numbers with the implementation of the Mobile Number Portability Act signed last February 2021.

Smart-PLDT, Globe Telecom and Dito Telecommunity jointly announced last July 22 the formation of Telecommunications Connectivity Inc. (TCI), a joint venture between the 3 Telcos that will facilitate the Porting In, Porting Out of mobile nos. between networks.

Postpaid and Prepaid users can avail of this service FREE of charge provided that they have settled their commitments from their current networks. For Postpaid users, they’ll need to make sure they’re out of contract and settled account or they may be charge pre-termination fees. For Prepaid users, their current load or availed promos will not be transferred to the ‘New network’.

The implementation of the Mobile Number Portability Act is seen to provide a better, more competitive services from Globe, Smart and Dito as they’ll have to find ways to keep their users from transferring to other Networks.
