Review: Hats Off to Katherine Bernardo’s Role for Hello, Love, Goodbye

REVIEW – Katherine Bernardo’s acting shows best with romance, drama genres. Her eyes alone can definitely relay the emotion of the scene. As she brought her A+ game to her latest movie, no wonder “Hello, Love, Goodbye” is a blockbuster hit.

The movie is all about Joy, an OFW in HongKong, working to save up money so she can send money to her family in the Philippines and finance her work visa to Canada at the same time. The twist of the movie started when she met Ethan, a Filipino who’s almost a HK resident, and he tried to pursue Joy’s heart.

As expected from Star Cinema and Direk Cathy Molina, the entirety of the movie will definitely be remembered with its cheesy lines like “Kung Mahal Mo Ako, Ba’t Mo Ako Pinipili?”, “Kung Mahal Mo Ako, Ba’t Hindi Mo ako Piliin?”. However, Alden Richard’s acting as Ethan failed to convince me as his character. Yes, he has that heartthrob appeal and can cry, but it wasn’t too convincing unlike Katherine and her character. Maybe because his looks make him ‘young and innocent’ and the character he portrays is supposedly a ‘fuckboy’ or a ladies’ man. Alden Richards doesn’t have that appeal that’s needed in the movie.

Nevertheless, Hello, Love, Goodbye is a good movie worthy to watch. A classic romance-drama from Star Cinema.
