Who doesn’t like a smoky, tasty barbecue treat? This is another favorite street food among Cebuanos and you can easily find this along the streets especially when night-time comes. A marinated pork or chicken meat, skewered on a stick, seasoned with a barbecue sauce, and then grilled over some coals. The result is a fine, tasty grilled piece of meat with a smoky flavor that you surely want to have for dinner. However, its taste actually varies depending heavily on the sauce used and the method of grilling. The popular choices of meat for Cebuanos are pork belly for pork and breast or thigh for chicken.

Barbecue or BBQ—a local version of pork kebab—is a very palatable delicacy here in Cebu that it has become an all-day favorite. Before, it was usually sold at night time but now, it’s sold any time of the day. As to where to find the best-tasting bbq in town, there are just so many to mention. Most are small vendors with their very own special home-made bbq sauce. Larsian was considered before as the go-to-place for barbecue craving but now, because of sanitation issues, has lost that title. Many now consider Yakski Barbecue as the new favorite spot when it comes to satisying your pork kebab craving. I, for one, would like to agree on this since compared to its predecessor, Yakski offers a better ambience and barbecue quality. It’s always better to eat in a clean place so that you won’t lose your appetite, right?

Why try it? It’s a great way to have a taste of Cebu’s local kebab delicacy. It’s a light meal with a very affordable price and you can enjoy its smoky sweet or spicy taste any time of the day.
