You might have heard of the sudden rise in numbers of people working from home. These are the freelancers that have opted to escape the office space environment and decided to work from the comfort of their homes. To be a freelancer though, you need to have accumulated a sufficient amount of experience in order to compete in the freelance market. There are many types of online freelancers like designers, programmers, translators, virtual assistants, encoders, etc.
This time we’ll talk about virtual assistant posts. It’s easier to learn this type of task compared to the others since you don’t need to have a lot of technical skills. You just need to be flexible and try to learn new skills every now and then. It helps a lot if you’re the type of person that needs less supervision and are able to learn by yourself. Typical virtual assistant tasks include email management, schedule appointments, research, blogging, article writing, SEO, and some other miscellaneous tasks. The best part about being a virtual assistant is that you can do this part time or full time and can accept as many employers as you can as long as you can maintain the efficiency and quality of your work.
So here’s an example, Juan is a call center agent and wants to buy a house. But his current income is not enough so he decides to look for other ways to earn money. He searches online and finds a virtual assistant post that only requires 10 hours a week and the hourly rate is $4. In his regular job he works 40 hours a week and gets paid 25,000 a month. After 3 months, his part-time job got increased to 20 hours a week with an hourly rate of $6. At this time, he’s earning $120 a week or if converted to pesos, 5400/week. He decides to quit his call center job and goes full time on his online profession. He gets another virtual assistant job with 20 hours at $6. Shortly after that, another offer for 40 hours a week at $6. At this point he’s working 80 hours a week at $6/hour so that’s $480/week or Php21,600. 80 hours a week is not very difficult as long as you choose the easy virtual admin jobs, plus you’re at the comfort of your home so you can doze off any time you want, or eat whenever you want to as long as you finish your tasks. After 6 months, the $6 hourly rate gets changed to $8 (Yes, this good stuff happens way sooner in online jobs as long as your boss is happy). Now you have 80 hours a week at $8/hour. That’s $640 a week or Php28,800 giving you 115,200 a month! That’s at $1 = Php45 conversion rate.
