3 Worst Types of People that You Become When You Receive Your Allowance

Some of us are probably waiting for the time to finally find the person they want to grow old with, some of us are probably waiting to finish college and pursue our dreams, but most of us at this time of the month are probably waiting for our mom’s text message about our allowance saying “Nak, mao ni ang control number.”

The waiting game has been so hard, dear, I know. The struggle between choosing Chilimansi or Sweet & Spicy pancit canton every night, the misconceptions from your high school friends that you have become detached from them just because you decline all their lunch out invitations, the heavy pocket because all of your money are now in coins. Dear, I know how much this waiting game deprives you from living.

Then, finally, your phone rings, a text message from your mom containing your favorite numbers.

However, due to the time of deprivation, when you finally get your most awaited allowance, these are the people that you become:

1. The One Day Millionaire (29 days Mantinir)

You forget that the money is destined to last for a month and not for a day, and you scratch your head at the end of the day saying “Nganung Kani Nalang Nahabilin?” as you try on the new shade of lipstick you bought or as you play the new video game you got.

2. The Festival Queen/King.

In the beginning: “Mangaon tas kuan na!” Or “Ako lay bahala gud, kaon tas kuan” “Librehan tamo!”

In the end: “Wa na lage koy kwarta, librehi lang ko” “Kuyogan tika basta pakan-a ko”

Sure it’s good to share your blessings, but not to the point wherein you do it just for you to have something to brag about and have to compromise your needs at the end of the day.

3. The “Dead on Arrival.”

This is for the ones whose big part of their allowance is used to pay for debts, also applicable for the ones who order bras, new briefs or langeries, and bags from Avon last month.

This post might be too late for the ones who already got their allowance, but for those who are still in the waiting game, avoid becoming one of these people. You have a lot of days ahead of you, so as much as possible allocate your allowance only for the things necessary. Spend your allowance wisely!!!
