Local Delight of the Day is DJ Hiro Akai

DJ Hiro Akai (Hiroki A. Akai) is a 21 years old HRM student from the University of Southern Philippine Foundation.

Aside from Djing, what are your other interests?

My other interest, aside from DJing, are making artworks like abstract paintings and pastel arts. I also love playing basketball, producing music and playing the piano. It’s good to be a music producer and a DJ at once because you make music as a producer at the same time you DJ to let the people listen to it and see their reaction.

What’s the best part of your craft?

The best part about my craft is that it is very unique and very different. Meaning when I play my songs, its like a new experience/type of music for different listeners. When I play for the people, I always tend to educate their ears in a way of playing my music and other new musics of various DJs and Artists. My craft is well balance. With the way I make my music, I want it really melodic and full of emotion all at the same time so it can bring joy and hype to the people. I always make it sound good from the beginning til’ the end to make it more interesting.

What/Who made you want to become a DJ?

What made me want to become a DJ was for the love of music. Since I was a kid, I always listen to music most of the time and playing the piano. I am not a music racist. I am very open to listening to different genres and not only EDM.

The moment I started DJing was when I started to idolize and wanted to be just like the King Of Trance, Armin van Buuren. I really loved his music. In the sub genres of EDM, trance is my personal favorite.

How about relationship status, are you currently single or in a relationship?

I am dating and seeing someone right now. I’ve been courting her for almost 3 months. I hope that I can have that sweet ‘Yes’ of hers to become her boyfriend officially.

Who’s your biggest influence/inspiration in your craft?

My local inspiration in my craft is my brother, Raymond Stops(Raymond L. Arsenal). My brother was a vocalist of the band, Indephums. At present, he is the vocalist of the band Stellarskin. I was inspired by my brother on how he loved his craft on Rock music. It became a big part of his life. He was passionate about making music and singing. This inspired me also to use my artistic and pianist talent into making it something big. Year 2012, the EDM scene gradually became big and I started having interest into DJing. I discovered new artists and DJs, which led me to idolize the King Of Trance, Armin van Buuren. It was in 2013 that I started Djing. I’ve been DJing for 3 years already.

My biggest inspiration of my craft is of course my family, friends, and fans. They are very supportive and they always tell me to have self-confidence that I can do it. Sometimes I’m pressured because they always expect big things from me. I never failed to impress them hahaha. When I make music, I let them listen to it and I can see in their faces the enjoyment and good vibe. This gives me the urge to be even better on doing my craft. Without this people: family, friends, and fans I wouldn’t be DJing right now.
