As a way of giving back and recognizing Overseas Filipinos for their trust and loyalty as BDO Kabayan Savings account holders, BDO hosted the Pamaskong Handog 2019 at SM Seaside City last December 7.
“With many overseas Filipinos coming home during the holiday, we take the season as an opportunity to honor and pay tribute to their hard work and sacrifice to care for their families even if it means being away from them and taking on unique jobs in other countries,” said SVP and Head of Remittance-BDO Unibank Ms. Genie T. Gloria.
Apart from the annual Christmas celebration for the OFs, BDO Remit also advocates the financial literacy education for the OFs espouses on the value of saving and investing. “Raising their financial knowledge should start at the onset, meaning, we teach them what they can do with their hard-earned money by allocating a portion to savings and looking for investments which can serve their long-term goals,” said Gloria.
Since starting the financial education advocacy in 2014, BDO Remit noticed a significant improvement in the savings approach of the OFs as indicated by the growth in their monthly savings.
The Cebu-leg of Pamaskong Handog was headlined by some of the country’s biggest celebrities and performers like BDO Remit endorser Piolo Pascual, Kim Chiu, Ronnie Alonte, Loisa Andalio, Aegis, Jennie Gabriel, Ate Gay, MC and Lassy.
WorldRemit, Moneygram, Western Union, Small World, The SM Store, Kultura, Miniso, Jollibee and Goldilocks also partnered with the event.
